NIKKA DESIGN completely revamped my cramped and gloomy bathroom
into an inspired "eco-boutique-style" space! It takes a lot of skill
to combine beautiful design with a practical reno approach. My custom sustainable
cabinets are unique and more beautiful than Conventional; products I looked
at initially. I feel good that going green can be both functional and chic.

Eco-Design is not a trend – it’s a paradigm shift.
Eco-Design, also known as sustainable design, uses materials that have been made with minimal or no environmental impact and that don't sacrifice style. With more than 500 pollutants
in building materials and in products we purchase and use, indoor air is approximately five times more contaminated than outdoors.
Designing interiors with our environments in mind can greatly improve indoor air quality (I.A.Q.) and
make it more enjoyable
to use since we spend about 90% of our time indoors.
Top 5 Steps to Improve your I.A.Q.
- Eliminate first and second-hand tobacco smoke from your home.
- Use natural cleaning products for every surface of your home. Look for cleaners that are chemical-free (no ammonias, no chlorine bleach, etc..),
perfume-free, dye-free, i.e.: to disinfect: vinegar, lemon juice; to scour: baking soda; while also eliminating odours at the source.
- After cleaning, use natural air fresheners rather than chemically-based artificial fresheners, i.e.: puncture oranges with cloves to fill the air with
a natural sweet aroma; boil fresh ginger or lemongrass at a low heat and allow the steam to infuse the air.
- About to paint your house? Use low or non-V.O.C. paints (volatile organic compounds = chemicals). Use durable and long-lasting water-based and clay-based paints to replace oil paints.
- Use an air purifier to eliminate fine particulates, kills germs and removes odours at the source.
